Allegory of the Wind

The newscaster has just announced that we have experienced a pseudo Spring. Quick on the heels of this announcement the wind takes hold of the house. It rattles fiercely and loosens a storm sash. Not content, it moves from pianissimo to crescendo, whistling through the cracks and crevices around the door. Obsessed with getting my attention it sweeps through the attic’s tile roof and follows the draft pattern through the house causing a door to shut with a great thud.

I listen as the wind takes on a voice. “Do not think that I, the Wind, am not aware that you find me an intrusion on what you thought to be Spring.” Wind says, ” I would have you know that the things of winter are better completed before the softness of Spring takes hold.”
